An optional three-phase brushless servo motor with optical encoder is also offered for closed loop operation and higher operating speeds. The standard pitch of the lead screw is 4 mm that can be replaced with1 mm per turn lead screw for higher resolution.Van Nuys, CA – — Motion Control – OES (Optimal Engineering Systems) has introduced a series of high precision, low cost XYZ positioning stages that can be easily integrated into new and existing applications. They are offered in 5 travel lengths for each axis, 50 mm (1.969 in.), 100 mm (3.937 in.), 150 mm (5.906 in.), 200 mm (7.874 in.), and 300 mm (11.811 in.). Any combination of lengths, motors, and lead screws are available.

These highly adaptable XYZ axis stages feature high precision steel linear ball bearings and hardened steel shafting, and each stage has a 3.543 in. by 3.543 in. (90 mm by 90 mm) table with a precise pattern of threaded mounting holes. These series is also offered with a locking brake for the Z-axis.

The stages are compatible with OES’ line of motion controllers and are available as a complete Plug-and-Play system. X and XY axis Linear Stages can also be specified.

motion control - Miniature actuatorsForestville, CA – The LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator is a high performance compact positioning system.  It was specifically developed for optical applications requiring both high precision and high-speed positioning over a short to medium stroke.  The LFA-1205 is well suited for optical focusing and other micropositioning applications such as scanning interferometry, surface structure analysis, disk drive testing, autofocus systems, confocal microscopy, bio-technology, semiconductor test equipment.  Note that this motor is normally configured with an analog position feedback sensor and can be optionally equipped with a digital quadrature feedback element.    The key to this products immense success is its novel tubular architecture.  This arrangement provides a means to send the optical path directly through the middle of the motor.  The moving optic attached to the motors ‘C-mount’ is not cantilevered and so has no torques.  The LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator is directly compatible with the SCA814 Servo Controlled Amplifier.

By design, the LFA-1205 Linear Focus Actuator rotates approximately 0.1 degrees or 1.7 milliradians for every 1 millimeter of translation.  Through manufacturing tolerances only there can be a small amount of pitch and roll motion that is induced during the intended translation.  These small but real error sources are routinely characterized during the manufacturing process  using our AC400 Digital Autocollimator to control product uniformity.

Santa Clarita, CA —– Motion Control – The SRS-006-06-050-01-EX single rail positioning stage is ideal for high-speed closed loop positioning applications that require both short and long travel distances. It uses a brushless linear motor to generate a continuous/peak force of 50 lbs [220 N]/150 lbs [660 N] with a total stroke length of 5.75 in [146 mm]. The non-contact 1 micron resolution encoder allows for precise position control. It is guided by a pair of recirculating ball linear bearings on a precision linear bearing rail.

The entire stage is assembled on a single piece of aluminum extrusion, thus reducing the overall weight of the system. There are also provisions that allow customer cables to be routed within the cable carrier. It has end-of-travel rubber bumper stops. A home positioning sensor, end-of-travel-sensors, and custom mounting holes on the moving table are available upon request.

motion control- h2wSanta Clarita, CA —– Motion Control – This hybrid air bearing XZ positioning system uses H2W air bearing linear stepper motor STS-1220-AP4T (horizontal axis) and voice coil positioning stage VCS05-060-LB-01-MH (vertical Z-axis). The horizontal Air Bearing Linear Stepper motor has a 38.0 in [965 mm] stroke and generates 12.0 lbs [53.1 N] of continuous force. It is guided by precision roller bearings along the platen. Integral air bearings are used to maintain the required motor air gap. The vertical Z-axis motor has a 0.50 in [12.1mm] stroke; generates 6.0 lbs [26.7 N] of continuous force and 118.0 lbs [80.1 N] of peak force. The 1.0-micron resolution encoder allows for precise closed loop positioning. It comes supplied with bearings that allow smooth and rigid motion. The motor coil is the moving part of the assembly in order to reduce the moving mass of the axis.

The task of this customer-specific OEM development was to create a path of 150 mm in 250 mm installation space, in which the load is wider than long. The available installation space had to be completely filled with an aluminum base body in order to achieve the necessary rigidity.

Integrated ball screw with synchronous belt

The ball screw was integrated between the base body and the moving carriage plate. It was also moved downwards via a pair of synchronized pulleys with synchronous belts. The transmission error of this additional transmission element could be minimized by optimally adjusting the pre-stress, thereby resulting in only a slight increase in repeatability errors. A compromise also had to be reached on the guiding system with regard to the guiding relationship. The lateral distance between the carriages had to be greater than the distance between the carriages in the direction of travel. Less stringent requirements for straightness made that acceptable.

Van Nuys, CA – Moticont has released a new three axis XYZ linear actuator the XYZ-10. The X and Y axes of the actuator each has a 0.97 in. (24.6 mm) of travel and the Z axis has a stroke of 0.500 in. (12.7 mm). The high speed, high acceleration, zero cogging, brushless voice coil motors provides 6.3 lbs (28.2 N) of force and peak forces of 20.0 lbs (89.9 N) at a 10% duty cycle for the X and Y axes. The Z axis linear actuator has a continuous force of 21.2 oz (5.9 N) and 67.0 oz (18.6 N) peak force.

The VCLM-XYZ-51-032-025-070 three axis linear actuator stage features resolutions of 1.0 micron for the X and Y axes. The Z axis has a resolution of 1.25 microns. All axes are equipped with a HOME switch. The stationary axis has a footprint of only 2.00 in. x 5.00 in. (50.8 mm x127.0 mm) with convenient mounting holes and an internal thread on the non-rotating shaft of the Z axis actuator. This XYZ actuator can easily be integrated into new and existing applications, and is ideal for: Assembly, pick-and-place, testing, inspection, sampling, and probing applications, especially in confined spaces.

Van Nuys, CA – OES (Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc.) has introduced three high accuracy Yaw-Pitch stages. The YP110-10-01 (stepper motor driven), the YP110-10-02 (brushless servo motor driven) and the YP110-10-03 (DC servo motor driven). The Yaw-Pitch stages are ideal for the precise measurement of angles or the curvature of an object.

The pitch stage has cross roller guides and a range of travel of +/- 10 degrees. The maximum speed is 14 degrees per second with stepper motor driven version and 90 degrees per second with the servo motor driven versions.  The 65 mm x 65 mm table has a precise pattern of threaded holes for fixtures or tooling and has an accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/-  0.01 degrees.

The rotation center height is 75 mm and the pitch axis is equipped with end of travel limit switches to signal the motion controller to stop the motion at each end. This axis also has the calibrated indicator to display the angle of rotation.

The yaw stage is capable of rotation of large angles and features a 180:1 ratio gear. The positional accuracy is 0.05 degrees and repeatability is +/- 0.01 degrees. This axis also has a calibrated indicator to display the angle of rotation and HOME signal for initialization.

The knobs of the stepper motors can be replaced with an optional optical encoder for precision position verification.  The YP110-10-02 and YP110-10-03 feature servo motors and optical encoders for very precise closed loop operation and greater travel speeds.

Van Nuys, CA – — Motion Control – Three new high accuracy Yaw-Pitch-Roll stages have been introduced by OES (Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc.), the YPR100-10-15-01 (stepper motor driven – pictured), the YPR100-10-15-02 (brushless servo motor driven) and the YPR100-10-15-03 (DC servo motor driven). These Yaw-Pitch-Roll stages are ideal for the precise measurement of compound angles or the curvature of an object. The Yaw axis (bottom stage) is capable of rotation of large angles and features a 180:1 ratio gear. The positional accuracy is 0.05 degrees and repeatability is +/- 0.01 degrees. The Pitch axis (middle stage) has cross roller guides and a range of travel of +/- 10 degrees and has an accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/-  0.01 degrees.

The Roll axis (top stage) has cross roller guides and a range of travel of +/- 15 degrees and the 65 mm x 65 mm table has a precise pattern of threaded holes for fixtures or tooling. This stage has an accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/-  0.01 degrees and the total center deflection for all axes is 0.03 mm. The rotation center height is 50 mm.

The Pitch and Roll axes are equipped with end of travel limit switches. The yaw axis has a HOME signal for initialization. Additionally all axes have a calibrated indicator to display the angle of rotation. The maximum speed with stepper motors is 14 degrees/second and 90 degrees/second with servo motors.

The knobs of stepper motors can be replaced with optional optical encoders for position verification.  The YPR100-10-15-02 and YP110-10-03 feature servo motors and optical quadrature encoders for very precise closed loop operation and greater speeds.  The YPR100-10-15 stages can be ordered plug-and-play with a fully a compatible multi-axis motion controller from OES.

The 1 micron resolution HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-01 Voice Coil Stage features cross roller linear bearings whereas the 30 micron HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-30 Voice Coil Stage uses linear ball bearings. Each of these stages has a 0.97 in. (24.6 mm) range of motion with 6.3 lb. (28.2 N) of continuous force and 20.0 lb (89.9 N) peak force. These brushless, clean, quiet, efficient, low inertia, high acceleration, zero cogging and high speed voice coil driven stages have a built-in home switch for accurate initialization. As the coil is fixed and the magnetic assembly moves, there are no moving electrical components to fail. Designed for closed loop servo operation an integral quadrature optical encoder with differential outputs is included..

The stages’ 1.509 in (38.3 mm) x 2.000 in. (50.8 mm) tables are equipped with 4 8-32UNC-28 mounting holes. Pre-drilled and counter-bored mounting holes in the base of the stages and a plug -and-play wired connector allows for easy integration into new or existing applications. These black anodized voice coil stages with a 0.500 in (12.7 mm) clear aperture are ideal for: Laser drilling and machining, optical focusing, testing, laser steering, mirror positioning, scanning, oscillation, switching, as well as precision applications in industrial, medical, metrology, and research fields.

The HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-01 and HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-30, Voice Coil stages are also available in XY or XYZ configurations, and can also be ordered as a complete plug-and-play system with a controller. Van Nuys, CA – Motion Control – The precise measurements of angles and the curvature of objects are easily determined using two new Pitch and Roll stages just introduced by OES (Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc.). The PR100-45-01 (pictured) is driven by stepper motors and the PR100-45-02 is driven by brushless servo motors with quadrature incremental optical encoders.

The Pitch axis (lower stage) is a high precision goniometer stage which features preloaded cross roller guides and a high ratio worm drive for smooth motion over a range of travel of +/- 45 degrees. It has a typical accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/- 0.01 degrees. Additionally, this axis has end-of-travel limit switches.

The 100 mm diameter Roll axis (upper stage) has a 180:1 gear ratio for smooth motion and has a precise pattern of threaded holes for fixtures or tooling. This axis has an accuracy of 0.05 degrees and repeatability of +/-  0.01 degrees. The Roll axis has a Home signal for initialization. Each axis features a calibrated scale to visually display the angle. The maximum speed with stepper motors is 14 degrees/second and 45 degrees/second with servo motors.  The knobs of the stepper motors can be replaced with optional optical encoders for position verification.

The resolution of the PR100-45-01 stepper motor driven duel-axis stage depends on the resolution of the step motor driver resolution or the optical encoder if a servo motor is used. A resolution of 0.001 degrees equivalent to 3.6 arc-sec can be achieved using a10 micro-steps per step stepper motor driver or an encoder with a resolution of 500 cycles per revolution.

The PR100-45-02 that features servo motors and optical quadrature encoders are used for very precise closed loop operation and greater speeds. The PR100-45-01 and -02 stages can be ordered plug-and-play with a fully a compatible multi-axis motion controller from OES.
