It uses a brushless linear motor to generate a continuous/peak force of 50 lbs [220 N]/150 lbs [660 N] with a total stroke length of 5.75 in [146 mm]. The non-contact 1 micron resolution encoder allows for precise position control. It is guided by a pair of recirculating ball linear bearings on a precision linear bearing rail.

The entire stage is assembled on a single piece of aluminum extrusion, thus reducing the overall weight of the system. The horizontal Air Bearing Linear Stepper motor has a 38.0 in [965 mm] stroke and generates 12.0 lbs [53.1 N] of continuous force. It is guided by precision roller bearings along the platen. Integral air bearings are used to maintain the required motor air gap. The vertical Z-axis motor has a 0.50 in [12.1mm] stroke; generates 6.0 lbs [26.7 N] of continuous force and 118.0 lbs [80.1 N] of peak force. The 1.0-micron resolution encoder allows for precise closed loop positioning. It comes supplied with bearings that allow smooth and rigid motion. The motor coil is the moving part of the assembly in order to reduce the moving mass of the axis.

Van Nuys, CA – Moticont has released a new three axis XYZ linear actuator the XYZ-10. The X and Y axes of the actuator each has a 0.97 in. (24.6 mm) of travel and the Z axis has a stroke of 0.500 in. (12.7 mm). The high speed, high acceleration, zero cogging, brushless voice coil motors provides 6.3 lbs (28.2 N) of force and peak forces of 20.0 lbs (89.9 N) at a 10% duty cycle for the X and Y axes. The Z axis linear actuator has a continuous force of 21.2 oz (5.9 N) and 67.0 oz (18.6 N) peak force.

The VCLM-XYZ-51-032-025-070 three axis linear actuator stage features resolutions of 1.0 micron for the X and Y axes. The Z axis has a resolution of 1.25 microns. All axes are equipped with a HOME switch. The stationary axis has a footprint of only 2.00 in. x 5.00 in. (50.8 mm x127.0 mm) with convenient mounting holes and an internal thread on the non-rotating shaft of the Z axis actuator. This XYZ actuator can easily be integrated into new and existing applications, and is ideal for: Assembly, pick-and-place, testing, inspection, sampling, and probing applications, especially in confined spaces.

Longmeadow, MA — Motion Control Components – Linear Motion – In dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic many companies have volunteered or been requested to produce urgently needed medical products such as: Masks, gowns, and ventilators. “Tooling Up” quickly to produce medical grade products for some companies can bring challenges. In addition to needing FDA compliant materials that will be used in the actual masks, gowns, and ventilators, the tooling used to manufacture these products may also need to meet FDA compliance standards. Depending on the product being manufactured, the tooling may need to be: Washed down using caustic chemicals, cleaned with high pressure steam, or sterilized with high Intensity Ultra Violet light or radiation.

Ordering custom FDA compliant linear motion slides and XYZ stages can result in long delays. As an alternative, many companies have linear motion slides in stock for immediate delivery, however, they may not be FDA compliant. In many cases it is the bearings that are not in compliance. LM76 manufactures several types of FDA compliant linear bearings and pillow blocks that are drop-in-replacements for existing bearings. FDA compliant bearings and pillow blocks from LM76 will not trap contaminating debris and can be thoroughly sanitized following Sanitation StandardOperating Procedures (SSOPs). SSOPs are detailed schedules and procedures specifying what to clean, how to clean, how often to clean, and the record keeping used for monitoring.

A helpful component selection guide from LM76, “Linear Bearings, 6 Simple Steps – FDA Compliance, Wash Down Compliance,” details the linear motion components available from LM76 that are FDA/UDSA/3A-Dairy compliant. Included are: Foodstream electroless nickel plated pillow blocks, PTFE lined stainless steel bearings, ceramic coated linear bearings, self-aligning corrosion resistant linear ball bearings, and Thomson® Super SmartTM corrosion resistant, self-aligning, high load linear ball bearings, and solid ETX pillow block/bearings. Shafting to compliment the type of bearing selected includes: Class L Stainless 303/304/316, 440C case hardened stainless, Rc 60 case hardened steel with an Armoloy coating and also Rc78 Class L for enhanced hardness and wear resistance. End blocks and shaft supports that have a ceramic or electroless nickel coating are also available, as well as new ETX Scraper Seals that prevents intrusion of contaminates adding another line of defense.

(50.8 mm) wide by 5.000 in (127.0 mm) long and feature positioning resolutions of 30 microns and just 1 micron respectively. These precision stages allow the user to select the level of precision needed for an application.

The 1 micron resolution HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-01 Voice Coil Stage features cross roller linear bearings whereas the 30 micron HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-30 Voice Coil Stage uses linear ball bearings. Each of these stages has a 0.97 in. (24.6 mm) range of motion with 6.3 lb. (28.2 N) of continuous force and 20.0 lb (89.9 N) peak force. These brushless, clean, quiet, efficient, low inertia, high acceleration, zero cogging and high speed voice coil driven stages have a built-in home switch for accurate initialization. As the coil is fixed and the magnetic assembly moves, there are no moving electrical components to fail. Designed for closed loop servo operation an integral quadrature optical encoder with differential outputs is included..

The stages’ 1.509 in (38.3 mm) x 2.000 in. (50.8 mm) tables are equipped with 4 8-32UNC-28 mounting holes. Pre-drilled and counter-bored mounting holes in the base of the stages and a plug -and-play wired connector allows for easy integration into new or existing applications. These black anodized voice coil stages with a 0.500 in (12.7 mm) clear aperture are ideal for: Laser drilling and machining, optical focusing, testing, laser steering, mirror positioning, scanning, oscillation, switching, as well as precision applications in industrial, medical, metrology, and research fields.

The HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-01 and HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-30, Voice Coil stages are also available in XY or XYZ configurations, and can also be ordered as a complete plug-and-play system with a controller. Santa Clarita, CA —– Motion Control – The SRT-030/360-026-01 is a two axis X-Theta positioning system ideal for precision motion control applications that require coordinated linear and rotary positioning. The 2 axis system consists of a rotary DC servo motor with encoder mounted to a moving brushless linear motor driven positioning stage.

The linear axis uses an H2W brushless linear motor BLDM-C08 to generate a continuous force of 26 lb [115.5 N] and a peak force of 78 lb [347 N] with a stroke length of 30 in [768 mm]. The non-contact 1 micron resolution linear encoder allows for precise positioning along the linear axis. It is guided by a pair of precision recirculating linear ball bearings.

The rotary axis consists of a standard 34-frame rotary servo motor with a 10,000 counts/rev resolution encoder. The motor can generate a continuous torque of 29 lb-in [3.3 N-m] and a peak torque of 87 lb-in [9.9 N-m]. The rotary axis is removable, which allows for higher accelerations by reducing the moving mass of the linear axis.

The system can be oriented in any orientation. There are also provisions that allow customer cables to be routed within the cable carrier. The system has a reference mark, end of travel limit switches and hard stops.

Van Nuys, CA – — Motion Control – OES (Optimal-Engineering Systems, Inc.) has added a new, larger, high load, precision stage to it’s extensive line of precision XY stages. The AU200-170×170 stage is a low profile stage measuring just 108 mm (2.252 in) high with a compact footprint (including the motors) of 458.5 mm x 458.5 mm (18.032 in.) The linear travel of the X and Y axes is 170mm x 170mm (6.692 in.), and the resolution of each axis is 20 microns (non-micro-step) or 1 micron (20 micro-steps per step motor driver in use), repeatability is 2 microns, and the positional accuracy is 3 microns. The 4 mm per-turn lead screws have just 2 microns of backlash and the stages have preloaded V-groove and crossed roller bearings contributing to the high precision and stiffness of the AU200-170×170 Stage. Designed for applications such as: alignment, assembly, laser drilling, machining, medical, industrial, semiconductor handling, testing, scanning, and optical applications, this compact, low profile black anodized aluminum XY stage is easy to integrate into new or existing systems.

The XY stage’s table measures 300 mm x 300 mm (11.8 in x 11.8 in.) and features a precision pattern of drilled and threaded mounting holes to facilitate the addition of tooling or fixtures. Additionally a table with a large open aperture is also available.

The standard two-phase (1.8o) stepper motors have knobs for manual adjustments of each axis of the stage, however, the knobs can be replaced with incremental encoders for position verification or closed loop operation. As an option, servo motors and compatible motion controllers are also available from OES, or the AU200-170×170 Stage can be ordered as a complete plug-and-play motion control system.

Forestville, CA, — — Motion Control positioning Stage – High speed, high force, sub-micron, >300 nanometer (1.1811 10-6 in.) positioning resolution, cross roller voice coil stages are self contained, compact, and can be mounted in a horizontal or vertical axis. The high speed, 20 mm (0.7874 in.) travel, Equipment Solutions’ Motion Control VCS-2020 Voice Coil Stage features a 20 mm dia. aperture. An integrated Analog position feedback sensor assures 100 nanometer (3.937 10-6 in.) repeatability.

This compact voice coil stage is ideal for such micro-positioning applications as: Scanning interferometry, disk drive testing, auto focus systems, surface structure analysis, confocal microscopy, biotechnology, and semiconductor test equipment.

The compact 117 mm 75 mm 81 mm (4.60 in. 2.96 in. 3.18 in.), low mass, voice coil stage is a fully self-contained system including a high precision cross roller stage, voice coil actuator, analog position sensor, servo amplifier and servo controller. The low inertia cross roller stage is integral to the standard threaded “C” lens mount and motor coil for tip/tilt free motion. Custom lens mounts are available. The voice coil motor is rated at 17.8 N (4 lbs.) continuous force and 71.8 N (16 lbs.) peak for 10 seconds and is clean room compatible. For easy integration into a new or existing application the VCS-10H Voice Coil Stage has multiple sets of mounting holes on several surfaces.
