Motion Control – Miniaturized Controller

motion control - micro controller

motion control - maxon logoThe functionality, operation, software, and accessories of the new controller are derived almost directly from the existing products in the EPOS4 range. The device is suitable for use with both brushed DC and brushless EC motors (BLDC) of up to 120 W and has comprehensive feedback options such as Hall sensors, as well as digital incremental and SSI absolute encoders. State-of-the art concepts such as Dual Loop, Field Oriented Control (FOC), feed forward, and observer control allow optimal control in a wide variety of applications.Taunton, MA — Motion Control Products – Maxon is launching a new, miniaturized controller with a size of only 32 mm x 22 mm as part of its successful line of positioning controllers. The attractive price-performance ratio, with a functionality that’s virtually identical to the larger units, addresses cost-sensitive single- and multi-axis applications.

The existing digital and analog inputs and outputs are freely configurable and ideally matched to the numerous functions and operating modes of the CiA-402 positioning controller. The intuitive EPOS Studio start-up software, as well as libraries and programming examples for integration in a wide variety of master systems, are available free of charge and make operation as easy as possible. A plug-and-play EvaluationBoard (EB) is provided for initial commissioning. The offer is rounded out by a comprehensive scope of accessories and detailed product documentation.

The first derivative of this new micro design is the CANopen version, which can also be addressed via RS232 or USB, as usual. In spring 2020, the EPOS4 Micro 24/5 EtherCAT will follow as a second product of similarly small size.

Motion Control – COVID-19 … Important Information for Ventilator Manufacturers!

Motion Control – ATTENTION – Ventilator Manufacturers!

motion control - ventilator components

motion control - electromate

Vaughan, Ontario, Canada — Motion Control Components — COVID-19 has caused a significant shortage of ventilators for the most seriously ill patients. We are facing a global shortage of equipment and have precious little time to respond.

Electromate is a mechanical ventilator component supplier and works with a number of manufacturing partners that supply crucial components needed to build more ventilators.

These include:

  • HMI’s
  • Linear guides
  • Linear actuators
  • Screw assemblies
  • Compact gearboxes
  • High efficiency servo & stepper motors
  • Programmable motion controllers and drives

Our team of motion design experts are located all across Canada and are available right now to help you with any electro-mechanical ventilator design. If you are working on a ventilator involving rotary, linear, or any other motion, we will provide immediate help with electro-mechanical engineering and component sourcing. Contact us today.

We are already working with ventilator and respirator companies and encourage any other businesses working on COVID-19 solutions to reach out to us.

All inquiries regarding ventilator components or any other equipment to help battle COVID-19 are given utmost priority. We can help to optimize your design quickly and provide fast turnaround proposals as requested. Additionally, we are able to meet high production demands in a very short time by utlilizing ‘Medical Fast Track Programs’ -info.us@maxongroup.com from maxon, and other vendors.

Many of the products we sell to the medical technology sector have ISO 13485 certification. This certification confirms that these products adhere to the fundamental requirements of medical technology and that all processes and procedures are documented, thereby guaranteeing traceability.

In addition to helping with the design and acquisition of critical components used in ventilators and respirators, we also want to make you aware of initiatives that you may be able to utilize. Please read below to learn more about these programs and how you can assist with the COVID-19 cause.

CODE LIFE VENTILATOR CHALLANGE

The Montreal General Hospital Foundation, in collaboration with the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), is launching a global innovation challenge, backed by a prize of $200,000 CAD. They are calling for teams to design a simple, low-cost, easy-to-manufacture and easy-to-maintain ventilator which could be deployed anywhere needed to save lives.

MIT EMERGENCY VENTILATOR (E-VENT) PROJECT COPY

MIT has launched an emergency research project with a team of Engineers and American clinicians to address the question:

Is it possible to safely ventilate a COVID-19 patient by automatically actuating a manual resuscitator?

Their process in approaching this question is to first identify the minimum requirements for a low-cost ventilator, based on the collective wisdom of many clinicians, design against these requirements, conduct immediate testing, report the results, iterate and facilitate discussion.

Motion Control - Electromate-Logo

Galil’s DMC-4000 Series of Ethernet/RS232 Multi-Axis Motion Controllers set the standard for high performance and value Vaughan, Ontario, Canada — Motion Control Components — The DMC-40×0 motion controller is Galil’s highest performance, stand-alone motion controller. It belongs to Galil’s latest generation motion controller family, which accepts encoder inputs up to 22 MHz, provides servo update rates as high as 32 kHz, and processes commands as fast as 40 microseconds-10 times the speed of prior generation controllers. The DMC-40×0 is a full-featured motion controller packaged with optional multi-axis drives in a compact, metal enclosure. The unit operates stand-alone or interfaces to a PC with Ethernet 10/100Base-T or RS232. The controller includes optically isolated I/O, high-power outputs capable of driving brakes or relays, and analog inputs for interfacing to analog sensors. The DMC-40×0 controller and drive unit accepts power from a single 20-80 VDC source.. The DMC-40×0 is available in one through eight-axis formats, and each axis is user-configurable for stepper or servo motor operation. With a powerful RISC processor, the DMC-40×0 controllers provide such advanced features as PID compensation with velocity and acceleration feedforward, program memory with multitasking for simultaneously running eight applications programs, and uncommitted I/O for synchronizing motion with external events. Modes of motion include point-to-point positioning, position tracking, jogging, linear and circular interpolation, contouring, electronic gearing and ecam. Like all Galil controllers, programming the DMC-40×0 is simplified with two-letter, intuitive commands and a full set of software tools such as GDK for servo tuning and analysis.
