H2W Logo

Santa Clarita, CA —– Motion Control – H2W introduces a new DC Linear Servo Amplifier (LCAM 5/15) that is ideally suited to drive our complete line of voice coil linear actuators. Linear amplifiers allow the current to flow continuously to the motor which prevents any dead-band issues that occur in many PWM type amplifiers. Additionally, linear amplifiers have low EMI, and no audible noise that also can be found in many PWM type amplifiers. Therefore because of their high current loop bandwidth, coupled with a low EMI, this leads to a smooth motion profile, which makes linear amplifiers the best choice for high precision applications. They are often used in precision stages to drive linear motors or voice coil actuators in semiconductor, medical, and optical equipment, since most voice coil actuators have very low inductance windings (less than 1 mH), this makes a linear servo amplifier the preferred method to drive voice coils..

Amplifiers will be preset to match the continuous and peak current specifications of any H2W voice coil motor. Available from stock for immediate shipping.

Features:

  • – Designed for Low Noise Operation
  • – High Output Current: 5A Continuous Output, 15A Peak Output
  • – Wide Power Supply Range: +24 to +70 Volts DC
  • – Wide Bandwidth: 6.5kHz (90 Degree Phase Shift)
  • – Current or Velocity Mode Operation
  • – Amplifier Over-Temperature Protection
  • – Amplifier Enable Input
  • – Fault Indicator Output
  • – Adjustable DC Offset Voltage

In addition to helping with the design and acquisition of critical components used in ventilators and respirators, we also want to make you aware of initiatives that you may be able to utilize. Please read below to learn more about these programs and how you can assist with the COVID-19 cause.

CODE LIFE VENTILATOR CHALLANGE

The Montreal General Hospital Foundation, in collaboration with the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), is launching a global innovation challenge, backed by a prize of $200,000 CAD. They are calling for teams to design a simple, low-cost, easy-to-manufacture and easy-to-maintain ventilator which could be deployed anywhere needed to save lives.

MIT EMERGENCY VENTILATOR (E-VENT) PROJECT COPY

MIT has launched an emergency research project with a team of Engineers and American clinicians to address the question:

Is it possible to safely ventilate a COVID-19 patient by automatically actuating a manual resuscitator?

Their process in approaching this question is to first identify the minimum requirements for a low-cost ventilator, based on the collective wisdom of many clinicians, design against these requirements, conduct immediate testing, report the results, iterate and facilitate discussion.

Motion Control – Linear Servo Controller Amplifier to Control Voice Coil Motors

Forestville, CA,   —  The SCA814 Linear Servo Controller was specifically designed to control single phase, non-commutated devices like voice coil motors.  like it’s field proven predecessor the SCA754 is a high performance single axis DC motor controller and amplifier system.  It is comprised of a highly integrated single PC board level product with a cohesive interface.  This card provides current amplification and analog servo control interfaces.  The single-phase characteristic of the current amplifier makes it particularly well suited for DC motors such as galvanometers and voice coils.  It was specifically developed for control of motor applications requiring both high temporal and spatial servo precision, such as machine vision, inspection, scientific imaging, medical imaging and other business applications.  This amplifier interfaces directly to many of the Equipment Solution motor/stage solutions.
Besides galvanometers the SCA814 is directly compatible with all the ESI linear voice coil stages and the optical scanners.  A bipolar linear or switching regulated power supply is required by the SCA814 amplifier.  Typically better performance can be achieved when using a linear power supply.  Equipment Solutions has several high-current supplies for this purpose including the SPS15 ±15V DC Switching Power Supply .
